Carob

Carob, male inflorescences

This bean enjoyed its heyday as an interesting chocolate substitute back when apartments were festooned with bead curtains.  Relegated to health food emporia, Carob does not show up in many markets.

As the dried seed and pulp from a Legume, you’d know this means the Systematist would group Carob with other members of the Bean Family, and the Carpologist would stack it around other Legumes, such as Beans, Peas, and Peanuts.
